- academia is full of contradictory extremes when it comes to creating information
- that - don't make - sense
- it doesn't want you to
- tell others about your work
- reasons
- cheating/copying
- i.e. - plagiarism
- nonsensical - reasons
- "all creative work is derivative"
- the world didn't have copyrights until now
- and it progressed quickly
- the world didn't have copyrights until now
- we don't ask each other permission
- before copying letters
- from - each other
- i.e. - the alphabet
- before copying letters
- teachers ask you -> cite your work
- yet they won't cite theirs
- in their ppt's
- making it ok for them to cheat
- but not you
- making it ok for them to cheat
- in their ppt's
- yet they won't cite theirs
- "all creative work is derivative"
- nonsensical - reasons
- when it's actually not a bad thing
- exact reason why I started my personal website
- for - people -> learn from me -> be better than me
- and start their life - where I left off
- for - people -> learn from me -> be better than me
- unless you take credit
- for - other's work
- ex - how open sourcing started
- ex - copyleft
- reason - copying - toxic
- leads to - beh's - greedy
- problem - in the end - <info spreading
- which - hinders society!
- problem - in the end - <info spreading
- leads to - beh's - greedy
- it's actually naturally how we learn
- through - mimicking
- i.e. - mirror neurons
- helps us understand how others are
- actually good - for empathizing
- eventually -> teamwork
- reason - working in unison > everyone doing their own thing
- reason - chaotic, fragmented
- reason - working in unison > everyone doing their own thing
- eventually -> teamwork
- from their perspective
- if we do what they do
- because we can work from that
- we can't - if we have no baseline
- because we can work from that
- if we do what they do
- actually good - for empathizing
- helps us understand how others are
- and we're taught at a very early age
- from - simon says
- later on school says - -> 'don't copy' other's work

- i.e. - plagiarism
- copyrighting
- i.e. - using teacher's info
- as you're own
- when teacher wants to use the same info
- -> - next year's test
- i.e. - 'can't discuss - results, test'
- ex - AP tests
- i.e. - using teacher's info
- exclusivity
- non-disclosure agreements (NDAs)
- w/ - employer
- or - proprietary info
- which is why - I speak in generalizations
- when I can
- but can be unavoidable [-> talk in specifics]
- which is why - I speak in generalizations
- or - proprietary info
- w/ - employer
- dilution - if you get an education - you paid - >>$
- schools
- don't make money
- if you teach it -> someone else
- for - free
- or - make $
- instead of - school
- if you teach it -> someone else
- <credibility
- if specific info - is with
- someone - who didn't go -> that school
- reason - they might have some info
- but other info's inaccurate
- yet some employer (or other)
- might think they're worthy
- and
- go to that school
- give them tasks
- issue - lead -> damage
- from - person
- who doesn't know - what they're - doing
- solution - don't give unqualified tasks they can't handle
- by - spreading exclusive info - that conflates them -> be better
- than they - are
- issue - schools - take - undeserved
- fallout
- blame
- issue - schools - take - undeserved

- if specific info - is with
- don't make money
- schools
- competition
- safety - if you tell someone
- secrecy
- some schools - if info's found
- -> - school assignment
- ppl would - rip sheets out of books
- so no one else would know
- so you don't tell anyone where the info's at
- or tell everyone
- so this doesn't happen
- or tell everyone
- so you don't tell anyone where the info's at
- so no one else would know
- some schools - if info's found
- non-disclosure agreements (NDAs)
- cheating/copying
- yet wants you -> - share - what
- you - learned, know
- through - applying
- ex - -> - employer
- as - metrics
- hypocritically - -> teacher's own purposes
- teachers - steal the ideas - that're on student's assignments - hw, proj's, etc.
- yet hypocritically complain - if students copy someone else
- professors - get credit
- if - students - make discoveries themselves
- but it's in - a professor's lab
- instead - credit give ->
- students - discovery
- professor - lab
- what ppl deserve
- instead - credit give ->
- but it's in - a professor's lab
- if - students - make discoveries themselves
- teachers - steal the ideas - that're on student's assignments - hw, proj's, etc.
- through - applying
- disclaimer - if I share - this is why
- because in the end
- people need -> know
- -> get - better
- I believe in - education - openness, 0 $
- if I - don't
- others won't learn
- and my education would be a waste
- due to - not apply it - anyway!
- and my education would be a waste
- others won't learn
- if I - don't
- people need -> know
- because in the end
- you - learned, know
- reasons
- copy/cheat - yet wants you to write in someone else's idea onto your own paper - and be ok with it as long as you cite it
- this takes up most of the essays written - where it's practically not your own paper anymore
- yet academia is ok with that - but not cheating
- which has actually been a benefit
- ex - I learned substitution that way
- reason - the teacher couldn't teach
- in a way that I could learn
- someone from a foreign country came in
- knowing more and better how to do math
- I didn't know how to subtract
- no matter how many times the teacher taught it
- because they kept teaching it in a way I couldn't learn
- and I told them that
- luckily - none of this would happen these days
- due to - OCW/MOOCs
- which is why I'm a heavy supporter of them
- due to - OCW/MOOCs
- luckily - none of this would happen these days
- and I told them that
- because they kept teaching it in a way I couldn't learn
- on the test - I didn't want to show that I didn't know
- and this was my only time to figure it out
- so I saw how the foreign student did it
- in 2 seconds I learned subtraction
- and kept it with me the rest of my life
- in 2 seconds I learned subtraction

- tests
- can be good - if you want to use it as an achievement status of how much you know
- and see what areas you - don't, want to take -> next level
- like a - breather, celebrator
- issue - unnecessary
- can do this - in your spare time
- and see what areas you - don't, want to take -> next level
- mostly bad
- can't learn much from a test
- reason - teacher - keeps your info
- i.e. what you wrote down
- issue - bottlenecks -> only a few concepts
- -> focus on that
- not - everything else - needed -> know
- which is what you take with you
- and leave the rest behind!
- which is what you take with you
- not - everything else - needed -> know
- -> focus on that
- reason - teacher - keeps your info
- better - projects
- reasons
- grow them
- after - class
- is - over
- after - class
- keep them - w/ you
- celebrate - w/ it
- grow them
- issue
- extremely niche topics
- format - weird way
- not - structd
- reasons
- can't learn much from a test
- can be good - if you want to use it as an achievement status of how much you know

Personal responsibility
I think it's fine if the government allows for free college education - for a few years - just like how they did in California. It's very important to have an educated populace to keep up with the demands of a 21st century futuristic society! That is good.
What is wrong is giving out loans - they should never be given out if there's no guarantee of being able to have them be paid back. I personally don't believe in people going to college if they can't afford it. Here's some exceptions though:
- yes
- you're underage - which means your parents can pay for you
- once you become an adult - you pay your own way
- the government needs people to have a certain skillset to have jobs in what's needed at the moment
- this is what happened with the space program - favoring science, math, etc. - because they were providing engineering jobs for launching rockets to save the country! That is fine
- you're underage - which means your parents can pay for you
- no - discrimination
- issue - unfair
- ex's
- a company you work at pays for your training
- if you got a degree on your own - a company shouldn't 'pay you back'
- scholarships
- based on - demographics > merit
- a company you work at pays for your training
Instead - people should pay their own way. If they can't - it's on them to figure out how. If they can't - then it's not meant to be. We can't force something that doesn't work, just because we want it to - because in the end it doesn't - and the wants just lead to damage in not seeing reality for what it is. It's not 'discrimination' based on socioeconomic status. Everyone starts somewhere - and it's up to everyone to pay their own way. Instead of blaming discrimination for what's wrong - instead let's blame what is the matter: the system!
- solution - allow children under 18 the choice (when they are of the time to apply to colleges) - to decide their major, location of stay, and if they want to go to college at all
- the reason - is that >>ppl at college - are there because their parents forced them -> go and decided their major for them
- it damages their life, messes up their direction (which makes them take out extra time -> get it back)
- all because they had no choice in the first place - because children have no rights!
- this is unfair - to setup something when they do have rights in a way they can't get out of it - during a time they have none
- that's equivalent to a trap and prison sentence
- society instead should opt for freedom
- that's equivalent to a trap and prison sentence
- this is unfair - to setup something when they do have rights in a way they can't get out of it - during a time they have none
- all because they had no choice in the first place - because children have no rights!
- it damages their life, messes up their direction (which makes them take out extra time -> get it back)

Free education
People don't need to go to college
if they do - they can go to college for free
- methods
- ocw - open courseware
- MOOC's - massively open online classes
- there's absolutely no excuse or reason for someone else to pay for one's own college nor prop up colleges that skyrocket costs just to play into the idea and institution of education!
Life roadmap -> college
- work a job
- setup what you want to do in life
- ex's
- start a family
- get a living space that you want
- etc.
- ex's
- see where the industry needs education
- get one - by having the industry pay you enough to get one
- then - you are paying back what they give you
- like a circle
- then - you are paying back what they give you
Reasons -> college
- if you
- retire, have nothing to do - and want to pursue a hobby - where you learn something new
- and you have the money and time -> do so
- after a lifetime of working jobs
- and you have the money and time -> do so
- did so much on your own - that you need -> go outside of yourself -> inspiration
- get -> a point where you can - follow the roadmap
- retire, have nothing to do - and want to pursue a hobby - where you learn something new
- not ->
- socializing
- you can do that anywhere
- experiencing
- every moment is an 'experience'
- college - isn't unique (and thus - not a justification) in that
- every moment is an 'experience'
- what has no guarantee
- ex's
- figuring out what you want
- if you don't know what you want - it's up to you to figure it out on your own
- college is for those who already know what -> do
- and need training -> that
- college is for those who already know what -> do
- if you don't know what you want - it's up to you to figure it out on your own
- getting a job
- you can get jobs w/o - a college degree
- so you don't need a degree -> get a job!
- you can get jobs w/o - a college degree
- figuring out what you want
- ex's
- socializing
