Why a futuristic name over my own?
Connection
Crystal's reminiscent of mythical Avalon - which was located in Brittany - i.e. - my real name
Issues with my real name
When I want to be a part of the future, I want to move forward with it. This lets me go past my own individual singularity to have a futuristic mindset and only that: separate the two lives out. Because we're a part of the 21st century, that's going from the 20th century to technological now.

- I'm not a fan of the name I was given and born with - too many frustrations and associations I don't want to be a part of.
- Brittany is a part of France where the British established their own place there. It's associated with war and violence, which I don't want to be a part of.
- My name is hard to pronounce and gets confused with other names (like Whitney) when I say it.
- It's difficult to know how to pronounce the name to begin with
- I don't like how when I say my name, people tell me 'like Britney Spears' and then more, less appropriate phrases associated with her (even though she became popular after I was born). That's just a continuation of the reaction I get when I say my name, which is baffled and confused. It's insulting to me. If I say that, it would be even more inappropriate.
- The associations with the name itself makes it hard to react with others, maybe because I'm different than my name's connotations
- Sometimes I resort to my nickname 'Brit'. However, it makes it sound like I'm a Brit from Britain, which I'm not.
