12-30-23 - methods to handle animal products being given to you
We live in a non-vegan world, so no matter how much someone tries to be vegan - it just isn't fully possible. Once we're offered something not vegan - everything after that isn't going to be vegan - because you're going to have to make decisions that're cruel and exploitative to animals (since you can't avoid being cruel in terms of not asking the animal what to do with their belongings - they're not there anymore). We can only try to make the situation more vegan, but realize none of this is truly vegan. So it's about going in a vegan direction, rather than making an already non-vegan situation less vegan than it already was.
definition
philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals - https://www.vegansociety.com/go-vegan/definition-veganism
Vegan-oriented
gray area (post vegan helpism - caring about animals where the vegan society's definition doesn't apply)
not vegan
shifting non-veganness to someone else is no better - because we treat others in the exact way we don't want to be treated (giving someone else something that's not vegan when we didn't want to be given something not vegan) - only to make it someone else's problem - instead of dealing with the consequences of our own (even if it's indirectly via someone else that's connected to us) ignorance (of knowing what to do better). It's our responsibility in the end to do what's right and vegan - because that's what we want to see (it's not everyone's dream). Plus - some of these ways can make us a hypocrite.

- rejecting
- but offer them ideas - -> make it vegan
- giving back to whoever gave it to you

- using the product - to avoid potentially getting a 'vegan' replacement that involves animal harm (insects, etc.)
- that could be avoided by wearing a non-vegan product
- reason - what society deems 'vegan' really isn't
- reason - nothing's truly 'vegan'
- everything exploits and is cruel to animals in some way and form
- veganism itself is exploitative and cruel to animals - in some way and form

12-7-23 - veganism fails animals at the species level by overly catering to the individual
see 'rewilding > killing domesticated species'. This is why I believe in extropian transhumanism > just veganism
12-7-23 - rewilding > killing domesticated species
Domesticated species come from wild species. Many vegans I know want to just let domesticated animal species die out and that be it. However, these species likely died out due to humans collecting them all from the wild. So we shouldn't punish the species for what humans did wrong. Instead, we should help bring them back to the state where they were originally at (before humans interfered), but brought up to speed with today's world (but a version that is uninterfered with by humans).
Raising livestock and other domesticated species wouldn't be considered vegan, but sometimes veganism gets in the way of helping the animal - and in this moment would be better to put veganism aside to raise animals to help them get back to where they originally came from to live peacefully there.

12-4-23 - being raw vegan when it's freezing
key - prolong warmth as much as possible
list
eat sunshine
- vitamin d
- the sun itself (absorb)
- leaves
* reason - leaves are designed -> take in photons -> photosynthesis
- it's space food - designed - -> taking in the most sunlight
* esp - chlorophyll
- recreate
* yellow-orange foods
- like oranges, mangoes, etc.
- reason - replicates what the sun looks like - inside your body
* what reminds you of being in the sun - like watermelon (from being at the beach), etc.
eat happiness
- yellow foods - bananas, etc.
eat what's energizing
- stimulating nerves - tingling (timut pepper), etc.
* flavors - spices - ginger, etc.
* colors - eat the rainbow
- reason - contrasts - w/ bleak

eat representations - of warmth
- ex's - thinking of heated foods (like tea or soup) - instead replace w/ infused water and raw soup
eat what stays warm through freeze
- pick - directly off plant
* reason - plants - maintain homeostasis
embrace the freeze - through its benefits (as fearing it is being 'cold' to it)
- resting - shouldn't be eating much anyway if hibernating. Instead - eat the food abundance during the other seasons.
* this is when you eat light foods that're easy to digest and quick to make (as you're going to be sleeping a lot - and not burning off food through exercise) - and more alkaline (to restore teeth -> not have acidic burning) - like vegetable juices, etc.
- refreshing
* strive - -> foresty, minty flavors
- anything - like - breath mint, etc.
- ex's - pine, mint, tree fruit (orange, etc.), spices (chai - cinnamon, cloves, etc.), etc.

8-22-23 - why fake animal products crashed in the stock market
Fake meat isn't vegan (reductionist at best, not absolutist), and so vegans don't like it. Then it's not liked by non-vegans who don't like the unhealthy, toxic, manufactured, long ingredients list. Both sides are valid and caught in the middle.
Others point out to the shortcomings of investing in the stock market for altruistic reasons when other investors can just steal that money for themselves, rather than the company use the money. This is for any stock, but it's a factor.

Useful for activist activities - to avoid exploiting animals by getting photos of them.
While they do convey messages - I don't believe this is vegan - because it's taking photos of animals without their permission, and exploiting/sharing trauma (even if it's for the animal's gain, because it doesn't take into consideration whether or not these animals actually want this type of help. Maybe they want to see themselves as good only - who knows?).

6-12-23 - avoiding crop deaths
I do believe crop deaths is an issue and if your food contains crop deaths - it's not vegan. I don't want to hear the excuse - 'well it's unavoidable'. No - we can avoid it if we want to - and if someone doesn't - then they definitely are hyprocritical vegans and are part of the problem.
Avoid

5-20-23 - why pain doesn't matter - for philosophy
it's about how much joy an animal has in its life
- just because it can't feel pain - doesn't mean it can't feel joy
- even if it can't 'feel' joy - bringing joy -> it - still matters
- because it's on it - it's experiencing it

5-14-23 - there is no such thing as absolutist veganism
reason - because we live in a universe where non-veganism is prevalent and even if you leave the universe - because the prevalence is still there - and has always been there - it's intertwined into one's being - so non-veganism can't really be escaped from in order for someone to truly be purely veganism in all forms of one's essence.
5-14-23 - bigotry has no place in veganism
Disagree with and punish the behavior and ideas - not the person
People can be anything - they're a blank slate. Sometimes they pick up bad behaviors - even if they want them - because in the end I do see people as inherently good - even if they do and want bad - because in the end, above all that - people still want to be and do good. People are jjust utilitarian and deontological above anything. If something (like veganism) is better - people will go to it. However - it needs to prove itself - as it wouldn't be fair for someone to go into something that just doesn't work.
Because I don't believe there is such thing as true veganism - it makes sense that veganism isn't what's desired in the world. It hasn't proved itself -> be better than what it has. It's worse if someone transitions only to have it be the same and it was done for no reason - just wasted time. The idea of eating plants is still cruel to both animals (as pesticides are used for crops) and plants - so it doesn't really remove the ideas of slavery (as it's plant slavery) and dependence on other lifeforms -> get by, nor is it about protecting animals when animals still get hurt. Veganism needs to prove itself -> be better -> be worth it. Otherwise people shouldn't have -> be justified in being vegan - and it's not their fault - and they shouldn't be punished - when it's not them - but the idea. People are flexible - and will do what's right and best - provided what's right and best is just that - and unfortunately veganism really hasn't proved it's that enough -> everyone -> jump into.

5-14-23 - CosmicSkeptic never was a vegan
Even though he 'went vegan' - he never actually was really vegan in it all. I had to write this - due to the sensationalism surrounding the shock of 'cosmicskeptic' no longer being vegan that it was betrayal - and that people should be justified for being angry at him - so I can give my rebuttal that it's all pandemonium for nothing and that there's no justification for being angry when he's just doing what his channel's about.
CosmicSkeptic is a philosopher - his channel is about taking a philsophical idea and being skeptical about it - but in a way that was unseen before
With veganism - he did just that. Trying to counteract the meat eater's stance (which he had) -> going in -> the vegan world/realm -> see if they are true or not -> emerge back out - w/ insights. He did just that - the experiment and journalistic-style immersion -> share his insights. It's only supposed to be temporary - testing out veganism. To say that he did this purposefully - being a real vegan - is naive. He tried it out - -> continue what his channel's about - i.e. - being sceptical. The channel isn't called 'cosmicvegan' for a reason - because he's just not a vegan.
Now there are justifications for those who want to go after those who eat animals just to benefit themselves - but to use the basis that he betrayed everyone and doesn't care about animals anymore - and that he 'needs' to be a vegan - is baseless. It's the industries that need to change - who are the real problem - and people as a society to go along with it. Targeting individuals on misappropriated reasons - isn't fair and doesn't work. Yes you can say he's a bad person for going back -> eating meat, but at the same time it should be looked at from the opposite direction - that he tried to not eat animals for years - that he wouldn't do otherwise had he not been a philosopher testing things out - and that's how I'd like to see it. Otherwise it comes across as bigotry - of which cosmixskpetic calls them all out on and reveals them.

3-7-23 - fake veganism surrounding Diego Robles
Vegan West Virginia - https://www.facebook.com/groups/526838857376077/ advocates for fundraising https://www.gofundme.com/f/protect-the-amazon-rainforest-in-ecuador for Diego Robles who runs a non-vegan Jungle Roots Glamping site https://www.junglerootsglamping.com/ . They serve animal products, yet their fundraiser makes it out to be that he doesn't have enough money to do vegan activities.
The truth is he exploits animals - and that's why he doesn't have enough money for his 'vegan' activities. It's vegan-washing at best. Best to not fall for it - because if he truly wanted to have enough money for his 'vegan' dreams - he'd be vegan himself, which he's not. He just ask vegans for the vegan part so he can continue making money off animal products just to make vegans give him a guise for that - and that's just making vegans help him exploit animals - and that's unethical.

2-27-23 - the cruel practice of cormorant fishingGiving the cormorants fish in the end and giving them a good life doesn't justify the horrors placed onto the birds and the fish. It's unnatural, leading to overworking the birds as well as getting more fish out of the water than the bird itself would do. Plus it's small fish, which're the most needed to sustain populations that this method catches.

Bringing people in - help them out (educate -> uplift -> they can find their way)
see the unkown -> face it -> figure it out -> do something about it/share what they know -> others -> do the same
Non-judgmental vegan discussions of undeveloped topics from all perspectives (vegans and non-vegans alike) to help meet people where they're at and see their thoughts through - so they can make more educated decisions to become the most optimized beings possible - be it more or less vegan - to eventually come to a place to teach others in return.
Leads -> better understanding
This continues the work of pushy veganism but counteracts their ad hominem attack controlling-through-ostracizing methods of shutting down conversations over the fact that who they're talking to isn't vegan simply because they feel (falsely) they're wrong (as no one's 'right') because they consume animal products (to eventually get so upset that no one went vegan after they shouted it to the world that they caused even more damage. Reasonable Vegan's channel is about healing that). This channel fills in the gaps leftover by pushy vegans by continuing the conversations that were left behind to hash them out and get to a conclusion - to push collective knowledget's further to get humanity to greater points of possibility in knowing what's out there - so we can continue to forge new paths of discovery, carving out what we know to share and set the scene for others to understand and follow (if worthwhile to).
Expanding options -> give people choice
Hopefully once we get to an end point of thought trains, we'll be able to see what we're doing wrong and fix it ourselves - placing the resonsibility of veganism into the listener's hands, regardless of how they currently act - giving them power to do something about what they find to be wrongdoing if they feel it's needed (as veganism isn't about the person, but the behavior). Most people want to go vegan, but are limited when they're shut down to the point they feel they can't - so bringing them in and helping them find their way gives them opportunities they would never have before - that they make take up upon it (or do the opposite - but out of their choice). It's just important to make sure people have what they need to be able to succeed in life. Then they increase their capability to handle what comes their way, instead of being weak and in fear or damaging the unknown - which is worse and what the pushy vegans accomplished. No more.

1-21-23 - veganism used as a cop out
Veganism tends to be blamed when someone treats it in the wrong way. Case in point - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhx8oZtoan0
That said - that doesn't mean veganism is good either if it allows for these shortfalls to happen. Instead we should seek better to protect the health of everyone in the quest to help out animals, plants, and all other organisms on this planet - including ourselves!

Problems with soy happen much more than other products, simply because it's sold in the largest of quantities and under shady operations, like being grown in the amazon via deforestation. Now there's yet another - something new - reason for saying no to soy:

1-17-23 - why moral integrity matters more than sentience in veganism
Risk aversion due to epistemic (and normative) uncertainty > justifying inhumanity -> animals just because we go off of what we know (rather than the truth)
Mindset is most important with veganism. How we act is a reflection of how ethical we are regardless of how conscious and living anythign we interact with is, because it's the risk of the unknown that makes us avoid creating more damage than not caring because we're ignorant about how sentient (for example) something is. This is because those are argument of ignorance logical fallacies - because not knowing something isn't a justification for wrongdoing - but rather a precaution out of respect.

1-13-23 - vegan argentinian recipes
For being such a top grower and exporter of crops and being known for mainly pears, chimichurri, and steak where I live, it's amazing to see meat still as the bulk of the diet. Still, having a large population of farmers from this (called guachos), who sometimes can't afford or are not near animals (being in crop fields) - I knew there had to be plenty of vegan recipes. Sure enough, I found them! While reflective of their history and my difficulties - 1) because I don't live there, 2) to find them without animal products (as those are in recipe books as well as with locals), it's going to be a little insubstantial. I enlisted the help of someone who lives in argentina - I enlisted Cabrinha#8577 of discord to help and they were the ones who jumpstarted and verified the list (maybe not all of it).

1-13-23 - where violence-showing documentaries fail
No doubt animal abuse revealing documentaries have helped some people. However, they did the opposite for me - just made me more angry at vegan activists for trying to increase the amount of violence exposure in my life while not giving me an opportunity or idea of what to do about it (as they waste your time showing you, telling you how you'll change, and giving ideas that aren't really vegan or work). I didn't go vegan from documentaries - it actually had the opposite effect on me. Why is it ineffective? It's because it exploits some animals (i.e. those filmed and people) while saving others (i.e. farmed animals). Because it works against itself, it doesn't get very far. It is hypocritical - advocating against the very activities it's doing to tell you not to do it! It's like telling people to help out animals in a sanctuary and how bad animal cruelty is while asking for you to buy them meat and other animal products. They turn you into a hypocrite.

1-12-23 - how antinatalism works against veganism
There's arguments made that having no kids would be best for the planet. This is where vegan antinatalists and others exist. However, while the intentions are well-meaning, they're a bit misdirected.

- the world's about not the number of people

- if vegans don't have kids
- people with worse behaviors will replace their place

1-1-23 - toddler-parent fight over veganism
Toddlers are naturally vegans, but parents label them as picky and force it on them - when it's them that's the problem.
It's not that they're picky - it's just that animal products aren't suited for toddlers. Placing them in a position not right for them just to force an adult's viewpoints onto a child doesn't make sense - it's not for them. There's no justification for getting them to eat animal products, as it's not naturally designed for them. "Growing up" shouldn't be about bringing violence into our lives when we just don't like it (and it's not safe, like some mention - constipation):
